Abstract

  • Wheelchair is Best Assistive device used by elder and disabled people

  • Driving and Controlling of Traditional Wheelchair is much harder task

  • Our Aim is to build a low cost and powerful alternate for handicapped.

  • Easy to operate , because one just have to direct their hand for movement.

Concept

  • A wheelchair which can be controlled by hand gestures and Joystick simultaneously.

  • A completely wireless palm band / glove for gesture control .

  • A completely wireless joystick remote which can be fitted on a bracket on the edge of armrest which will also charge the remote .

  • Both devices will use a MCU

Conclusion

We propose a Hand gestured and Joystick controlled  wheelchair for helping  users in activities that require holding an object within hands and driving the wheelchair at the same time. This gave us new practical experience and design ideas for improvement. The long-term goal of this project is to build a new system based on the recognition of the movements of both arms and also provide certain features for more applications.
